The Founding Fathers were the statesmen and political leaders who participated in the American Revolution and established the U.S. Constitution. However their actions were of different character. Every medal has the reverse side. The Founding Fathers were sexist and  biased against women. They did everything they could to deprive women of civil rights and possibility to go to the courts. Moreover, the United States Constitution did not protect the rights of women.

Women were like black slaves and  they were prohibited of contact with others and were the property of their husbands. Initially the law even allowed husbands to beat their women.

In my opinion Founding Fathers had made fatal mistake discriminating women. The equal rights between man and woman only would stimulate the development of the American society at that time.

For all practical purposes, the Founding Fathers owned their women. Women could not have property, or vote; they were completely dependent from men and did not take part in social and political life of the country. I was also shocked by the fact that women also suffered from domestic violence. It means that women were not respected and held in contempt. I do not understand why men are surprised nowadays at the behavior of women, at the desire to be free and independent, at the phenomena “feminism”.

Analyzing the activity and behavior of Founding Fathers, one can notice that they treated themselves as gods and treated women as their slaves. The Founders believed that a woman could never be a full citizen because women are too emotional, weak and have no character at all. Founding Fathers devalued women, caused them great hardship and suffering and adopted laws oppressing women. Founding Fathers were superior to women, slaves and poor people and that is why “feminism” appeared to defend the rights of women to be equal with men, to be free and to be respected.

To my mind, the struggle of women for the equal rights with men, modern feministic trends are echoes of the past underestimation and contemptuous attitude toward women. Women and men should have equal importance and equal roles in both the family and society.
