The Guild of Italian American Actors (GIAA) was founded in 1937 to protect the right of the aforementioned group of people and currently is an affiliate of the AFL-CIO and a Branch of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America. There are 43 members to the Guild (24 of them being women, 17 men and 2 adolescents). The Writers Guild of America, East, (WGAE) was established in 1951 to protect the rights of those who write for TV and cinema. It is based in NYC and currently encompasses 3,770 members led by President of the Guild, a writer Michael Winship. Lowell Peterson is the Guild’s Executive Director. Members also serve on the committees and caucuses that help shape the Guild’s actions. According to the mission statement, the combination of diverse talents in the WGAE has helped maintain, uphold, and improve the professional and artistic pursuits of our members for more than half a century. The governing body of the organization is the Council that consists of no less than 19 Members. The sole officers of the Guild are be a President, a Vice President, and a Secretary-Treasurer. International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) was founded in 1918 and the mission statement hasn’t changed ever since: the main objective for its members is to unite for better wages, improved safety, and greater service for their communities. Rolando, the Headquarters is located in Washington, D.C. and the structure of the organization is similar to the one it used to have in 1970s, during the letter carriers’ strike: the association holds a state-scale office in each state. The organization pays much attention to its members’ retirement and compensation issues and cares about maintaining their working hours in a normal amount. NALC is well-known for its community service programs.
