In everyday life people are so busy with their cores that they usually do not think much about health environment problems.  Environmental Health course has given me a perfect opportunity to change my way of thinking and the way I live my life.

It was always unpleasant and irritating for me to catch a cold and flu. As a rule, it happens unpredictably and may ruin one`s plans and expectations. Environmental Health course was a perfect opportunity for me to make myself think and care about colds and flu before it happens. To avoid illnesses in the cold and flu seasons, it is important to prevent it using different precautions. In order to be protected from colds and flu, it is important to strengthen the immune system (Manson, 2006). The first thing, which is worth to be done, is to take care of the nutrition. The human`s body is supposed to get all the vitamins that it needs in order to stay healthy and strong. It is important to be moderate in eating. It is also advisable to take nutritional supplements in order to help the body to get the necessary amount of vitamins. The next thing, which is important to do, is exercising. This does not mean that one should spend hours for workout in the gym. Pleasant long walks, regular bike rides, gardening and some housework would be quite enough to make one`s body move. If a person feels that his body is in good condition and ready to resist colds and flu, he is doing well. It is also important to have plenty of rest. Avoiding contacts with infected individuals may also protect from illnesses. Another important protection is frequent hand-washing. Many people prefer flu vaccination.

In conclusion, it is important to use protective measures in order not to be infected during the cold and flu seasons.
