Thomas Edison is known as a famous American innovator, a father of project management and a great problem solver. He was one of the most genius inventors in the world history. He created solutions to different problems, and was known for the problem solving approach to his innovations. He thrived on new experiences, experimentation and change. Edison held over 1, 000 patents on many different devices, but his main invention was the light bulb. He was passionate about the problems he was solving and never gave up. His extraordinary innovative abilities were a result of his restless nature, which translated into pilot programs to test hypothesis and new projects. Thomas Edison was talented in many fields of study and science.  Edison General Electric was his major corporation that is well-known throughout the world.  His individual approach to solve problems was the evidence of his unique and innovative personality, what made him a relentless thinker.

Innovative people are usually talented in different spheres of life due to their special abilities, i.e. out of the box thinking. The available information reports that innovators are typically right brain individuals with a strong independent ability of thinking and creativity. Thomas Edison had a great passion to his work. That is why he was passionate about the problems he was solving. He never gave up and always found the right solution to any problem. For example, he tried 3,000 different materials for his light bulb before he found the best one. He never stopped before he found the right solution, because he considered that it may be very close, when a person was ready to give up. He tried thousands of solutions and learned much about the problem. Due to his right solutions he made the greatest invention of the world`s history – a light bulb. With his invention of the light bulb he found the solution to the problem of generating and distributing light and power to the cities and people`s homes. Everything what he did, he was doing in terms of the benefits that might be utilized by people. He worked together with the great team of brilliant and talented co-thinkers, who helped him to solve problems and find perfect solutions. What made Thomas Edison a perfect problem solver is his creativity and great passion to his work. Successful problem solving always requires creativity (North, 2009). Edison tended to create new innovations by finding perfect solutions.

His inventions have changed people`s lifestyle and led to growth and development of various industries. 

Thomas Edison`s first research laboratory was another example of his approach to problem solving. He created this laboratory with the aim to extend the shop tradition. His Menlo Park research laboratory was opened in 1876 in New Jersey. The opening of his laboratory was very helpful in new inventions and their further development into commercialization. In fact, Edison`s research laboratory was the cornerstone of modern industrial research (North, 2009). Edison`s Menlo Park laboratory was very successful and became a model for other inventors and entrepreneurs. Thomas Edison may be identified as the father of three industries: electric light and power, sound recording, and motion pictures. Moreover, he can be estimated as the founder of modern industrial research and new technologies. Edison`s hard work and persistence have changed American lifestyle and led it to the prosperity and power. His inventions and contribution in improving life have made people`s life easier and more sophisticated. Thomas Edison`s determination and indomitable will made him succeed.
