Doctors, no matter in what sphere do they work, are always treated as professionals and leaders. In order to become a good doctor you need to consult and lead a patient through all the way of medication. Physicians, as people, who give directions to others and try to explain their condition or problem, have primary position in this chain. All physicians are leaders and to be the best they always develop their coach skills. This paper will describe an importance of leading skills in healthcare; therefore, how those notions can help in managing own healthcare facility.
Good professional vision and possibility to understand a subject matter profoundly by doctors and other staff are key points in formation of independent healthcare facility. Primary, physician must be good problem solver in any situation, because he can change the mood and the course of treatment. He cooperates with other staff members and, being leaders, they have a strong need in other strong people who do their work on the same level. Nevertheless, Burton (1998) considered that, “…even having a highly qualified physician executive, medical staffs still need voluntary leaders who can effectively manage medical staff issues”.
Creating own healthcare facility requires emotionally intelligent and self-developing stuff. Physician, as a leader, like CEO or directors, are the first who should correspond with this criteria. This person needs to be a leader to make the work of other staff more active and giving best results. Medical group needs a person to manage and to control negative emotions of patients and workers of healthcare facility as a whole. Clinical leadership, according to Johnson, must involve effective interpersonal leadership by profoundly prepared physicians in healthcare organizations (Johnson, 2009).
To sum up, physicians as leaders have ability and strength to influence others and to control emotions in stressful situations. To create good healthcare organization there is a need in one or more physicians who can coach and control actions of other staff.
