Immigrants go through various factors that pressure them. Challenges are especially faced by the children of immigrants. These children have to often leave their homeandto travel to other countries, often to the West to pursue education. It is obvious that there are many uncertainties associated with their trips abroad given that they are visitors or foreigners in new destinations. This paper tackles some of the common pressures, which the children encounter. This is helpful in giving information to those who are concerned, so that appropriate measures are taken to minimize any harmful effects that such pressures may cause. Concerned parties are also made aware, so that they lower the demands upon travelling children.
There is a difference among cultures. The children would obviously try to copy the behaviors/manners of new cultures in order to suit in the new environments. Quite often, they encounter resistance from their parents who would be against the adoption of a foreign culture and its associated ways of life. This presents a difficult scenario since the children are entangled between choosing the foreign culture and receive acceptance or heed their parents and face rejection by their colleagues.
It is also true that children who travel a lot are usually under pressure to finish school and succeed in their careers. Education in schools is challenging and it is not easy to reach heights/standards set by parents. Consequently, being pressured by parents to do well exerts tension to the children. After school, children are also required to settle down quickly. This usually presents a challenge since the children who have spent a lot of time in a foreign country need more time to adjust.
Based on the discussion, it seems that the cause of the pressure is based on the needs being pursued by parents. Parents put demands on children by requiring them to behave in a certain manner. This may be in contradiction to what the environment offers. Parents should be informed about the need to allow children to pursue their dreams without undue pressure.
